About Us

Our Mission:

The mission of FADVS is to promote the skills of volunteer resource management through quality education, professional alliances and leadership development.

Who We Are:

The Florida Association of Directors of Volunteer Services (FADVS) is a professional organization for effective leaders, who through the development of volunteer resources, enhance the healthcare delivery of our communities.

FADVS was founded in 1973 by a group of hospital volunteer directors who were dedicated to developing a statewide resource network to improve volunteerism in the healthcare environment.

In 1989, an effort to promote professionalism among its members, FADVS was one of the first volunteer associations in the country to develop a certification program. The certification process helps volunteer leaders to recognize their professional skills. Today, many healthcare volunteer directors and coordinators have become recognized as a "CDVS."

Since the success of many statewide volunteer programs are a direct result of members supporting members, FADVS recognizes outstanding members with the Sally Sitta Award. This annual recognition is given to a member that exemplifies outstanding volunteer leadership skills.

What We Do:

Since its inception, FADVS has grown to over 125 members from a variety of Florida healthcare organizations. FADVS sponsors an annual educational conference each year to provide members with information and tools to help enhance their volunteer program and learn skills for effective leadership with volunteers of all ages.
